A human being's view of himself or herself is shaped by the culture in which he or she lives

Cartoon
The dad doesn't see himself as rude because in his culture he views as licking his plate normal. He is accustomed to doing what he wants but his wife tells him about other cultures. If the husband were to stop licking his plate it would be a different culture like the ones who consider it rude to lick your plate. It is about how you shape your culture and what you are accustomed to. The dad doesn't see himself as rude because of his culture. This ties into society because someone could be doing something and not have a self image of themselves as "rude" but it can appear rude to another culture simply because their culture is shaped differently.

Divergent Novels
In the divergent novels there is lots of culture. Each faction represent the different cultures they have. The main character Tris had different customs before she entered the dauntless faction. Over time her culture began to shape with the Dauntless. She had to be brave and merciless. The way she viewed herself changed too, she saw herself as weak because she always reacted with violence and she felt sad. After a while her culture changed because she realized what was wrong and what wasn't she shaped and became a better person.

Drawing
This is a drawing on the Little Mermaid. In the Little Mermaid Ariel is a mermaid who falls in love with Eric, the prince who happens to be human. Ariel goes to see Ursula and she makes a deal with her that Ursula can turn her into a woman if Ariel gives Ursula her voice. Ariel's cultures are shaped by her mom's. Ariel's mom was Triton's wife but then she passed away and everything changed. Triton became sad and banned music. After that, Triton accustomed them to new cultures but Ariel's culture could not be changed. Hers were shaped after her mom's. In the end, Triton turns Ariel into human for prince Eric because he sees that she loves him and he shapes his people's culture into the old one again. When Ariel spent time with Eric in the beginning she combed her hair with a fork and that was because of the way her culture is shaped, mermaids combed their hair with forks in her culture and that was something she changed throughout time. This ties into social cultures because it shows how culture changes and shapes over time based on how you learn and accustom yourself. In this picture Ariel is looking at Eric's face when her dad broke her statue of him and she is sad because she wanted to be with him as human. Triton was mad when he knew she had been on land.

Movie
The movie my Big Fat Greek Wedding is about a Greek girl who falls in love with a man named Ian Miller who is not Greek at all. Her family's culture is that every Greek must marry another Greek. She is shaped by this culture her whole life. When Ian and Toula meet they fall in love and later decide to get married. When Ian meets Toula's family he sees how their culture and tradition really is. He sees how crazy and loud they are. Toula's dad Gus is upset that Ian isn't Greek and is very stubborn about it. Ian also happens to be vegetarian which is the complete opposite of a Greek. Toula's culture is shaped by her family because she feels as if she has to marry a Greek boy. On the other hand, Ian starts understanding this culture and even gets baptized as a Greek for her. He then begins to understand and that's how his culture is formed. His culture is formed by Toula and her father's influences and they later have a child in part two of the movie and expect her to follow Greek culture as well.

Meme
"A human being's view is shaped by the culture in which he or she lives." This meme is indicating that because two men raised Simba it would be likely that he turned out gay. It is saying that because Simba was raised by two guys his culture would be different than most others. They assumed that he would be raised with different cultures, ideas, etc. He would have a different culture just because of the way it was shaped with two men.

Comic strip
The way this lady views herself is significant to the way the culture is shaped. In this comic she tries on a lot of different dresses and thinks many things of them. In the third image she thinks her outfit is too casual and in the fourth picture she thinks her outfit is ridiculous and calls it "Mardi Gras." She tries on many outfits till she finds the perfect one. I think her decision had something to do with how the culture of dressing is now. She was worried about her outfit and she had to match to the culture of the way we dress now.  This ties into how things are now because part of culture is formed by the way we dress and that is what this comic is showing.

A human being's view of himself or herself is shaped by the culture in which he or she lives

This little girl is looking in the mirror at herself. This shows the way she is dressed being influenced by her culture. Back then little girls would dress in puffy dresses. This ties into the story because when Jeanne wanted to be a part of the parade her dad got mad at her because of the costume she had to wear. He said she would be dressed as a gypsy. He yelled at her because he thought it was disrespectful to him and his culture.
